Midterms, take two

Next bout of midterms is upon us, and here are the major contenders:

EE363: Software Components and Generic Programming
We are given a large, incomplete software project base for a spell check utility. We need to bring it up to functionality and re-implement some key features using a different container than it uses now. We also need to add a little bit of functionality to it. Not too bad, but kind of annoying.

EE365: Advanced Digital Circuit Design
Here is the real kicker, we need to implement a relatively complicated design this time, and do it completely on our own. We're building a device that can read inputs from sensors, and using internal timers and logic, control a traffic light stop between two intersections and a crosswalk. It's going to be really interesting... and really hard. And I can't post any details of how I'm doing it without violating academic integrity, at least until the projects are turned in, gonna be a while...

Alright, see you all later!

Project Update

Well after Tom-Tom and Diana visited last weekend I now have the remainder of my tools and such so I'll be working on the Parallel Port LCD project this weekend. It seems like I'll probably need to power the display and backlight from the 9V battery anyway because the parallel port could be damaged if my math is wrong, and I don't wanna risk ending this project early cause I cooked the port!

More to come later I hope....

Osillyscope!

It works, my oscilloscope that is. Brought it down to the lab and got a refresher course on using oscilloscopes from a friend while testing mine out. Hooked it up to the DC power supply as well as the function generator. Not only did it work but it was near perfect. My friend also showed me how to adjust the calibrations on it, so that is good.
